Who can host Read On!?

Elementary schools can host the Read On! tutoring program. 

What schools host Read On! currently?

Bret Harte Elementary, Caroline Wenzel Elementary, Ethel Phillips Elementary, and HW Harkness Elementary.

How are students able to participate in Read On!?

Students are referred to Read On! by their teacher, school site intervention team, or administration.

Students that participate in Read On! are/have:

  • 1st-4th Grade 

  • Behind in grade level reading; students read at a beginning 1st-3rd grade level

  • No diagnosed reading or language disabilities/ IEPs

  • Basic conversational skills in English

How long do students participate?

Students receive three, 30-45 minute tutoring sessions per week

  • Students participate for a minimum of 24 tutoring sessions, at which point they are reassessed to determine if they are to continue in the program. 

What are the methodologies and curriculum?

  • Read On! delivers literacy tutoring anchored in the Science of Reading for striving readers to close their reading gaps and help them reach grade level reading goals. 

  • The Read On! curriculum includes direct instruction in phonological and phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension

  • Students engage with the online reading intervention program, Tutoring with the Lightning Squad by the Success for All Foundation and Skybrary, an online interactive library by Reading is Fundamental.
