916 Ink Imaginarium Field Trip

Departure: 1pm (3 hours of instruction, half-hour for lunch/recess)
Cost per trip: $1,100. $900 without publication.
Students will enter the 916 Ink Imaginarium where they will explore a world designed to excite and inspire their creative resources. After a brief orientation about 916 Ink and its methodologies, students will embark on a journey through the creative process, ending as they transform into published authors.
During the first portion, students will learn the elements of poetry through a group creative writing prompt designed to tap into their imaginations. Students will have the opportunity to share their contribution to a final group poem with their peers in a positive environment, free of criticism.
After the first 90 minutes, students will break for a sack lunch (weather permitting in our picnic area/writer’s garden).
During the second portion, students will learn the elements of story by way of a group creative writing prompt. They will then write a piece of fiction together, and will also begin the final stages of becoming a published author. With the aid of the 916 Ink Wordslinger and Inspirators, students will be walked through the revision process.
If you choose to publish a zine, one month after the field trip, 916 Ink staff will arrive at the school with copies of their anthology. Each published author receives TWO FREE COPIES of the zine. The school will receive five copies.
If you choose to NOT publish a zine, students will receive a Collaborative Storytelling packet to continue writing their stories at home.
Teachers will be present but not required to participate. A workspace will be made available for teacher use while the students participate in the program.

916 Ink's Find Your Voice creative writing program will come directly to your school to facilitate an engaging, one-day creative writing workshop designed to inspire students andbuild confidence through storytelling.
The workshop begins with an introduction to 916 Ink and our creative writing approach. Led by two professional teaching artists (Wordslingers), students will participate in interactive writing activities that encourage imagination, collaboration, and self-expression in a positive, judgment-free environment.
Throughout the day, students will explore the elements of poetry and fiction through guided writing prompts, collaborative storytelling, and opportunities to share their work with classmates. Students will also learn the fundamentals of the writing process, including brainstorming, drafting, revising, and preparing their work for publication.
If your school chooses to publish a zine, 916 Ink will return approximately one month later to deliver printed copies and celebrate students' accomplishments with a 20-minute classroom reading and mini zine celebration. Each published author receives two complimentary copies of the zine, and the school receives five copies.
If your school chooses not to publish a zine, students will receive a Collaborative Storytelling packet to continue developing their writing beyond the workshop.
Teachers are encouraged to attend and support their students throughout the experience, though active participation is not required.
