916 Ink is excited to announce our first annual “Hot Literary Nights” event to support our mission of transforming Sacramento youth into confident writers and published authors. The evening will bring community members, business leaders, and elected officials together for an evening of words, whimsy, and wine - not to mention a selection of literary inspired cocktails - in order to highlight our work and help us reach more children in the 2017/2018 school year.
What should I expect to see?
Hot Literary Nights will be a fun, unique, and entertaining show designed to amaze and inspire. It will be kicked off by Sacramento’s own Poet Laureate, Indigo Moor, followed by readings from our published youth authors and performances by local musicians who combine jazz and poetry into a one of-a-kind experience. Drinks and heavy appetizers will be served during a cocktail hour after doors open, where performers will entertain guests as they mingle and opportunities will be provided to tour the 916 Ink Imaginarium, see our new writers garden, or participate in a “Literary Cake Walk.” Local bakers will compete to create the best book inspired cake as judged by our youth authors, with a silent auction for those cakes not used in the cake walk. We expect a sell out with 250-300 guests in attendance so be sure to get your tickets early to come enjoy a night that highlights a homegrown nonprofit and the positive momentum of the Sacramento community.
