Our 12 session school-site based programs include whimsical writing prompts and sample reading to engage 3-12 grade student imaginations, showing them that reading and writing can be fun and enjoyable. These lessons increase self-confidence, academic engagement and interpersonal skills.

They also promote personal empowerment and academic engagement.

By the end of each school-site based program, each student will have:

- Received 18 hours of literary arts instruction

- Published up to 3-5 pieces of poetry and prose.

- Feel empowered to tell their story and change their narrative for better outcomes.

Amplify Summer Creative Writing Camp

Amplify Summer Creative Writing Camp will take place in The Imaginarium, a whimsical creative writing space located in South Sacramento at the Maple Neighborhood Center, Monday-Friday, from 8:30am-5:30pm. The workshops are generative, creative, and inspiring. Students listen, write, and share stories in a supportive and confidence-boosting environment.

Word Squad

A 12 session drop in after school program, held in the  Imaginarium at 3301 37th Avenue Sacramento, CA, is led by 916 Ink trained Wordslingers and is open to children and youth grades 3-12. This program provides whimsical writing prompts and lessons to promote literacy skills, self-confidence, social-emotional development and a sense of wonder.

Word Squad sessions end with a professionally designed anthology of selected work by the youth writers and a book release party with readings from the youth authors.
